The Citrus County Democratic Executive Committee (DEC) announced the date and time of their next general meeting The meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 20h at 7pm and will be a hybrid in person/Zoom format. Nancy Pierson, candidate for the newly created Florida House of Representatives District 23, will be the guest speaker for the meeting. District 23 encompasses all of Citrus County and the southwestern corner of Marion County, including the City of Dunnellon.

About Nancy Pierson
Nancy is a native Michigander, whose hometown values resonate with the residents of the newly created 23rd District. A graduate of Michigan public schools, Nancy was first called to public service as a Sheriff's Deputy. Nancy spent 25 years working for the Sheriff’s office, working in the prison system at some of the toughest prisons in Michigan. Nancy’s story of public service doesn’t end there. After decades of service, she changed careers and became a registered nurse. She discovered the Nature Coast in her travels and fell in love with its natural beauty before relocating here. Her service as a nurse has brought her to the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. On that terrible afternoon of January 6, 2021, she heard the radio cries from officers on duty at the Capitol as the line of law enforcement officers fell and seditionists stormed the Capitol Building. In that moment, she felt called to begin another path of service to our community. Her declaration of candidacy for Florida House was the first step on that new path.

The Citrus County DEC is responsible for managing the affairs of the Florida Democratic Party (FDP) within the county. Membership of the DEC includes elected Precinct Committeemen and Committeewomen who represent the registered voters of their precinct.
